Atletico de Madrid faces Osasuna once again

After the eliminatory round of Cup play against the Navarran squad, Atletico de Madrid faces Osasuna again, but this time in League play. The first round of the League Championship is coming to an end and Javier Aguirre’s team needs to earn the three points to finish the first stretch of the season with their duties well done. Atletico and Osasuna have played each other 28 times in League play in Madrid (twice in Second Division) and history clearly favours the home team, who have won 20 of the matches; the Navarran team has won 5 times and the two teams have shared the points on 3 occasions. In all of these matches Atletico de Madrid has totaled 57 goals, while Osasuna has scored 25. It’s worth noting that over the course of their history the two teams have only drawn nil-nil once (season 1980/1981), which suggests that we’ll see a match full of excitement. Last season Osasuna, coached by Javier Aguirre, won 0-1 in Vicente Calderon Stadium, on a goal scored by Muñoz in the 15th minute.
